In this video, Fox News discusses how the FBI is spying on people through their webcams. Is this a tie to totalitarianism? Or can this be ethically justified?
Karlee, this is an intensely interesting video. It shows how the government is spying on people without any just reason or probable cause. I believe this is definitely a tie to totalitarianism because they are searching and are violating the 4th amendment. It is a direct infringement on our liberty and the government gets an intense power of its constituents. I also do not think that this can be ethically justified because the spying will not end crime, but it will just make the government have power over us.
Connor, I totally agree. I think it would be really hard to justify this as an ethical act. Some argue that "if you have nothing to hide, why do you care?" But I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting privacy. It shouldn't be a red flag if someone desires to not be spied on by the government. It's kind of crazy to think that our own government is doing this... Maybe it's time to join my grandmother and put a sticky note over my laptop's camera.
