The topic of this article is how modern technology has changed warfare. It explains how much of an impact technology has had on warfare and one of the examples they give is how we went from using traditional bows and arrows in wars to now being able to use missiles that can strike with "pinpoint precision" by using GPS.
In the article it mentions the extensive use of the Bow and arrow, and the spear. I think it is very interesting that both of these weapons were highly used in the early years of war to sneak up and ambush a group of people. But soon after that the evolution of armor reduced the effectiveness of both the bow and arrow and the spear. Soon, Machine guns, grenades and cannon were popular among the troops and were being used in wars. Explosive shells that killed a group became even more common and accurate, creating high level casualties. It is amazing the evolution of technology and how it has had such an impact of the idea of war and how it is performed using different strategies and ideas.
ReplyDeleteThis is an extremely interesting article discussing how technology has changed warfare. The article mentions how our ancestors fought with spears, bows and swords. Nowadays, we have aircrafts, guns and powerful nuclear bombs. What stood out to me was the strategies used. For example, with bows and spheres you had to be extremely accurate and precise when attempting to kill your enemy. In todays warfare, soldiers guns can carry up to 200 rounds of ammunition before having to reload which allows more room for mistake but deadlier and more accurate results. In addition to guns, explosives, aircrafts and drones have allowed nations to expand their ways of attack and eliminating the enemy.
